Kobe Bryant Is Michael Jordan's Successor: Carrying The Torch Is Not Easy

What is the NBA would be like without Michael Jordan? Who will carry the torch of NBA basketball? Those were the biggest questions in basketball when Jordan retired in 2003. The Jordan Era ended. Many people became sad about it. But after quite some time we have that the excitement and the drama in the NBA is slowly recurring when Kobe Bryant took it upon himself the desire to be the best and to be like Mike. Just like when Magic, Dr. J, and Bird passed the torch to Jordan, Jordan also passed the torch to Mr. Bryant. Love him or hate him, Kobe will still be one of the best ever players who ever played the game of basketball. Your hate and your love will all be part of history.

I can still remember when I heard Kobe Bryant said:

As far as carrying the torch for the years to come, I don't know. I just want to be the best basketball player I can be.

He appears to be conceited and selfish to some, but we can't do anything about it. He has the most burdensome job to keep the flame of greatness in the NBA.

Here's what Jordan said in his last All Star game speech in 2003. Just fast forward the video to 2:52. Look at how Kobe reacted to Michael Jordan's speech. Other stars were joking around but Kobe is very serious. He is accepting Jordan's challenge. Goodluck Kobe. Keep the fire burning!
