NBA.COM Philippines Launched In SMX Center Mall of Asia: NBA Digital Campaign In The Philippines At Its Best!

By: VMM

The NBA is getting closer and closer to the shores of the Philippines as the World's Biggest and Grandest Pro-Basketball League has finally launched "NBA.Com Philippines" (Link here:ph.nba.com) last April 27, 2012. They launched the new Website in style as Luc Longley, the legendary Big Man of the Chicago Bulls during the Jordan Era graced the Big Event at the SMX Center in Mall of Asia. Yeah, you read that right. The Pearl of The Orient, the Philippines is literally placed right beside NBA.Com. Well, I was not surprised with that kind of development because our country has millions of netizens and add to that the fact that WE LOVE BASKETBALL and WE LOVE NBA!

The NBA.Com Philippines' Website would feature a nice mix of locally done and internationally done stories and articles about the NBA. The Website also aims to enjoin professional sports writers, bloggers and journalists to contribute some articles that will be featured on the Website. Aside from the plain articles about NBA games and NBA Players, the Pinoy talents in the NBA such as the Filipina Cheerleaders, Filipino Coaches such as Erik Spoelstra, NBA Events that are scheduled in the Philippines (Exhibition Games, NBA Fit, Player Tours... etc.) and other Filipino People in the NBA will also be heavily featured on the Website. The usual medium that you're accustomed to seeing on the main Website of the NBA- NBA.Com, the video features and articles will also be used in the NBA.Com Philippines' Website. The projects and campaigns of the NBA.Com Philippines together with IP e-Games and PhilStar.com will also be digitally placed on the Website.

Mr. Carlo Singson, the Country Manager – Philippines, NBA Asia, Mr. Juan Kevin Belmonte, the Philstar.com President and CEO and Mr. Jaime Enrique Gonzales of IP e-Games all shared their thoughts on this momentous launch of the NBA.Com Philippines' Website.

Mr. Singson highlighted the uniqueness of the Website's Launch when he said that:

“Digital is the new frontier for the NBA... this is a significant milestone. We are launching something that's very unique!”

Mr. Belmonte on the other hand pressed on the Philippines' contribution to the growth of the NBA Market Worldwide. He said:

“Being a basketball crazy nation and one of the major markets for the NBA in the world the Philippines deserves to have its own local Website, a place on the web that Filipino NBA fans can call their home! Every month, they get 56,000,000 page views and 4 million unique visitors from us.”

Mr. Gonzales meanwhile shared some info that are in line with the idea that the Philippines has a lot of Netizens.

“Internet in the Philippines is on the cusp of greatness. We now have 30,000,000 users & we'll reach 50,000,000 users in the next two yrs.”

With the arrival here of NBA.Com Philippines' Website, I can really feel and foresee that the NBA will be more closer to the Filipino Basketball Fans and it will ignite a more meaningful exchange of opinions and ideas about the NBA in the different social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. I am very excited about this very meaningful event in the Philippines.

Luc Longley, the former Teammate of His Airness Michael Jordan, the first Australian Born NBA Player, and the guess of honor of the Website's Launch also had a great feeling about the new website. His words below somehow summed up the message of the Launch. He said that:

"It's a land-mark situation going on!"

Well, I think that's the most important thing that he said in this very cute video below.

And oh, before I end this post, please do support NBA's Marketing Partners in the Philippines such as Adidas, Gatorade, Coors Light and KFC.
