Before the birth of contracts in the United States, verbal agreement is the name of the game. Same thing with the hand shake agreement. Americans consider those as sacred and they carry a lot of weight in transactions. That's the reason why I believe that the Kevin Love trade will soon be completed based on the report that the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers now have a handshake agreement regarding his next tour of duty.
Perhaps it's now safe to say that Love is on the verge of spending next season alongside LeBron James in Cleveland.
According to SB Nation.com:
"Love is about to get his wish. The Timberwolves and Cavaliers have agreed to a trade in principle that would send Love to Cleveland for a package headlined by rookie Andrew Wiggins, according to Brian Windhorst (sportswriter for ESPN.com) in a radio appearance with Chris Broussard and Ryan Ruocco. The deal can officially be completed on Aug. 23 when Wiggins will no longer to bound by a rule that says players cannot be traded for 30 days following the signing of a new contract."
The Cavaliers have also expressed that they are willing to include former number 1 draft pick Anthony Bennett in the proposed deal which may be sealed in the next few days.
