UAAP and NCAA Basketball Players To Play In An Exhibition Game In MOA Later This Month for Jr. NBA Alumni All-Star Game: When and Where? Check This Out!
Wanna see the blue chip rookies who will play
for UAAP and NCAA teams in the coming collegiate basketball season? Watch the
Jr. NBA All-Stars Alumni game on April 27, 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall at 12 noon .
24 Jr. NBA alumni from Batch 2009 to
Batch 2013 will compete in a Red vs. White basketball game that will be coached
by NBA talents Gordon Hayward of the Utah Jazz and WNBA Llegend Tina Thompson.
Called Team Gordon and Team Tina, the
two teams will reprise last year’s very successful and crowd-pleasing alumni
game between Team Muggsy and Team Jolas. Last year’s teams were coached by then
visiting NBA Legend Muggsy Bogues and Jr. NBA Philippines Coach Jojo Lastimosa of Alaska .
Aside from incoming collegiate league
rookies, this year’s Alumni All Star Game will be headlined by members of the
Philippine Under-18 team and high school stars of their respective schools and
universities.
Jr. NBA alumni who have confirmed to
play are : Aldrin Fegidero of Jose Rizal University, Henry Asilum of the
University of the Philippines, Paul Harley Dagunan and Ichie Altamirano of the
University of the East, Tsaddy Rangel of Hope Christian School, Thristan Edge
Laman, Roald Mayor, Patrick Ramirez and Vince Ferrer of the University of Santo
Tomas, Tyler Tio and Jarrel Lim of Xavier School, Gian Mamuyac of the Ateneo de
Manila, Marco Sario, Aljun Jay Melecio and Miguel Fortuna of De La Salle
Zobel, Ricci Rivero of La Salle Greenhills, Lorenzo Navarro and Carlo
Escalambre of San Sebastian College, Samuel Abuhijleh of San Beda College,
Pawandeep Singh of System Plus College Foundation of Angeles City, Lui Besa of
Holy Spirit School of Bohol, Miguel Competente of Ateneo de Davao, Rendell
Senining of National University and Arnie Padilla of Far Eastern University.
Gordon Hayward of the Utah Jazz and
WNBA Legend Tina Thompson will be in Manila to participate in the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA
Philippines 2014 presented by Alaska National Training Camp to help coach
participants from all over the country vying to become Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA
All-Stars. The National Training Camp will be held at the Philippine
International Convention Center (PICC) Forum 2 & 3 from April 25-26 and the SM MOA Concert Hall on April 27.
The Jr. NBA Alumni All-Star game is a highlight of the NTC and a much-awaited
event among parents, coaches, basketball fans and the mall-going public.
In addition to Presenting Partner
Alaska Powdered Milk Drink, Official Partners include the NBA’s official sports
drink, Gatorade, Unilever’s flagship brands Rexona and Master and new partner,
Phoneix Petroleum. Returning as Jr. NBA Supporting Partners are KFC and
Spalding. Official NBA broadcasters are Basketball TV, NBA Premium TV and
Studio 23. Jr. NBA is also supported by the Basketball Coaches Association of
the Philippines (BCAP).
The Jr. NBA program was first conducted
in the Philippines in 2007 and has more than doubled in
participation in the past six years. Each year a new city benefits from the grassroots
basketball program that involves not just young players but also their parents
and coaches. This year, more than 80,000 students, parents, and coaches will
benefit through Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA activities including camps and clinics, NBA
Cares outreach activities, television programs and digital initiatives.
