Our Philippine Dragon Boat Team (PDBT) doesn't make any excuses, they just do their work within their own means and that's why they are successful in their sport. To think that they rarely go abroad to train and yet they still win big time in their respective competitions, that's the most unusual thing for this world champion team.

They just train near the Manila Bay dump site. They have withstood the dirt and the hassle that the nuisances that the Manila Bay has. Majority of the members of this team would say that they lack the fund and they don't have enough support from the government but as you can see, they still win in their competitions despite the hardships that they have experienced. Thus, I would be more than willing to salute all of you guys for making our country famous in the world of Dragon Boat Racing.

During their (PDBT) most recent competition, in the World Dragon Boat Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida, they once again won several awards compared to other teams who competed in the tournament. All in all they garnered 4 medals, ‎3 gold and 1 silver medal. But they might get more golds because the competition is not yet over in Tampa Bay Florida.

The competition has been really stiff for our PDBT. Our team has competed against the likes of Hungary, Trinidad and Tobago, Italy and Australia and with all their might and with all their sheer desire to win, so far, they were able to hold their own against those well funded teams.

Our PDBT even set a record in the competition. They finished the 10000 meter small boat event in just 4 minutes and 57.13 seconds. That's the best record so far in the competition. That's just amazing! That gave them their first gold medal. In the next rounds they were able to get 2 more gold medals and 1 silver medal. They were virtually unstoppable in this tourney. They can get more gold medals if they will continue doing well in the next rounds.

At the end of the first part of the competition, our PDBT gave thanks to those who supported them all the way. They said that:

“Masayang masaya kami kasi butas ng karayom ang dinaan namin bago kami nakapunta dito. Nagpapasalamat kami sa suporta na ibinibigay ng kapwa Pilipino natin pati ‘yung Filipino community dito. Napakalaki ng binigay na suporta nila sa amin pagdating sa pagkain at moral support.”
