Bernard Hopkins Beats Jean Pascal: He's The Oldest World Title Winner
At 46 years old, Bernard "The Executioner" beats the up and coming Jean Pascal who's only 28 years old. Hopkins is now known as the oldest boxer to have won a title. He won via unanimous decision to get the WBC and IBO world Light-Heavyweight belts.
Hopkins felt great about this statement win. He has just reached the level of George Foreman who beat Michael Moorer at 45.
Hopkins said:
"I knew it was going to be a tough fight, but I wasn't going to be denied. You're supposed to win titles in your twenties, not when you're 46."
The Hopkins versus Pascal was a re-match of their bout that was held in Quebec which resulted to a draw. The first fight happened last December.
This time the fight resulted into a unanimous decision in favor of Hopkins. The judges' score cards were, 116-112, 115-114 and 115-113 all in favor of Hopkins.
Hopkins was a bit slow in this fight but his punches we're all on point. Pascal became exhausted because of those heavy body punches. Hopkins used those to dictate the fight.
