San Sebastian Stags Defeat Lyceum Pirates In Their 2nd Round Game In NCAA Season 87: The Pirates Bid Farewell To Their Maiden Season

    By Ms. Kristina Montefalco-Singson Sy

"Stags are Back in Action; Lyceum bids Farewell to Final 4 Hopes."

The San Sebastian Golden Stags are back on track as they shrugged off their first loss of the season against the Letran Knights through this big win against the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates with a final score of 80-68, today for their final face-off in NCAA seasoN 87 at the FiLOil Flying V in San Juan City.

"The Beast" Calvin Abueva who had a double-double performance, 18 pts. and 12 rebounds, secured their 16th win as he was on the momentum firing 2 point buckets during the last 10 mins of the game.

The Stags, giving their successful attacks as they stretched their lead during the 3rd Quarter to 19 points, but the hopeful Lyceum Pirates tried to open the door for a deadlock opportunity during the last 8:35 mins of the game, as Aaron Anacta fired crucial continuous 2 point buckets together with Floricel Guevarra and Chris Cayabyab, who both fired 3 points resulting to 66-62.

But "the Beast" immediately countered those buckets as he made 10 points in less than 4 mins in the last 3 minutes of the game clock that stretched their (Stags) lead. The deficit of LPU continued to increase and that marked the end of their campaign in the current NCAA Season. The Lyceum Pirates were left hopeless to enter the Semis.

But we can't deny the fact that the Lyceum Pirates were successful to end their rookie year with an unexpected rookie team performance, as they made it to the top 6 in the standings in their first year.

    Quarter Scoring:

    21-17, 52-35, 65-55, 80-68
