Mark Caguioa Talks About Othyus Jeffers' Unique Style of Play
Prior to Ginebra's big win over Rain or Shine via 103-92 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup 2016, Othyus Jeffers seemed to be playing a unique style of basketball wherein he was being more of a pass-first player instead of being aggressive on the offensive end like the majority of the other imports.
Mark Caguioa talked about Jeffers during the Gindependence day event few days ago.
"I think winning will come later. Right now nangangapa pa kami. It's not just Othyus. It's the whole team. Si coach Tim, for how many games palang ba siya nagcocoach samin? Last conference lang siya andito sa team, less than 15 games lang yun, diba? So I think the team will get better. The chemistry will get better. People don't know about Othyus. He's really unselfish. Dito meron kang import na iiskor ng 30-40-50 points pero ano ang mangyayari? Pagdating ng playoffs siya nalang babantayan? Para samin naman sa team madaming tutulong kay Jeffers e. Medyo matagal din kasi matutunan yung triangle e. The more Othyus learns about it the more it gets easier for him. It has to flow like water. It looks easy but it's super hard to understand." Caguioa shared.
Indeed, their import appeared to have already adjusted to their system and his timing is getting better. If I'm correct, Jeffers scored 38 big points to go along with 28 rebounds to lead the Gin Kings to victory over the highly-physical Elasto Painters.
If that is really the case, Ginebra's offense is in good hands. Thus, we can expect more wins along the way with Jeffers.
