Chot Reyes Talks About Calvin Abueva and on Why He Deserves to be Part of The Gilas Line-up Under New Coach Tab Baldwin

Alaska's Calvin Abueva may be too rowdy, too obnoxious, and a "Tazmanian Devil" on the basketball court, making some people doubt his capability to play in an international tournament for the Philippines. But, the former Smart Gilas Pilipinas mentor Coach Chot Reyes still wants Calvin to be part of the squad that Coach Tab Baldwin will handle.

"Antagal na naming kinausap si Calvin with Coach Dickey Bachmann of Alaska. I really want to get him at least in the pool," Coach Chot said in an interview during the North vs. South All Star Game on Sunday night in Puerto Prinsesa Palawan.

Coach Chot also shared the reasons why Calvin should be in the line-up.

"I think he can defend Kamrani and Bahrami. Unfortunately hindi siya pwede due to injury nun. I’m certain, he can find a way into the line-up of tab Baldwin," added the multi-titled PBA mentor Coach Chot.

As if on cue, Calvin showed why he's being considered to be part of our national team by posting 37 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead Team North over the South Squad.
