For the first time after 40 long years the Philippines is once again the host of the FIBA Asia Championships. Yeah you heard that right. The Philippines will host the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship due to the on going crisis in Lebanon.
This is a big honor to the Philippines because for once, we will become the center of Asian Basketball. Thanks to the efforts of SBP especially Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan.
For more info about the hosting job, here’s the video of the FIBA Asia 2013 in Philippines Press Con. By the way, in the video, PBA Commissioner Chito Salud said that the PBA is in full support of the Gilas National Team in its quest to officially qualify for the World Basketball Championship in Spain in 2014. That’s definitely a good news. We can now be sure that there will be enough PBA Players to play for our National Team come the opening of the FIBA Asia 2013 in the Philippines sometime in August. MVP also said that the Smart-Araneta Coliseum and the SM Mall of Asia Arena could be the 2 venues of the FIBA Asia 2013 Games.

Full support pero teams will lend atleast 1 player per team. Hindi ba pwede, teams will lend any player requested by national team coaching staff? Eh pano kung ang ipahiram eh ung least competitive player sa team@?
