CSB Gets First Win Amidst Brawl and NU Stays Undefeated In FilOil Cup 2012

    By: Kristina Caramel Sy

The CSB Blazers notched their 1st win in the 2012 FilOil Flying V Pre-season Hanes Cup 2012 via a blazing match-up against the Arellano Chiefs. CSB won via 67-47, but with with an unfortunate ending.

Only 4 Chiefs and 7 Blazers remained on the game as both teams had a clash that started from Serjue and Deles' brawl.

Both teams, as they wanted to defend their teammates, entered the court which resulted to a negative reaction on the other team.

CSB controlled the game prior to the brawl. Mark Romero, with his 13 pts. and 6 rebs. led his team to a big
    20 point lead.

Even though only 4 AU Chiefs stayed on the last 7:36 mark of the 4th Quarter, they were still able to trim their deficit down to just 10 points.

However, Anton Altamirano, one of 7 blazers who were able to stave off ejection, fired 2 consecutive treys that ignited another run for the Blazers en route to their 1st win in FilOil.

As a consequence, AJ Serjue and Ralph Deles from both parties, who were called for a disqualifying foul, will be suspended on their respective next games.

    Stats:CSB 67-47 AU- M. Romero(CSB) 13 pts. 6 rebs.; C. Lastimosa(CSB) 12 pts.; P. Caperal(AU)9 pts. and 13 rebs.

The NU Bulldogs is still unstoppable as they fastened their 6-0 record after they vanquished the SSC-R Golden Stags, 76-73.

NU's Jeoff Javillonar sank a crucial trey that changed the lead in the last 18.4 ticks in the 4th quarter. Due to unforced turn-over committed by the Stags, the Bulldogs used this as an advantage to stretch their lead. Bobby Parks Jr. was fouled by the beast Calvin Abueva and able to sink his final free throw that closed out the match in favor of the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, UP already listed their 1st win as the beat the UPHSD Altas, 61-47.
