Tim Cone To Coach B-Meg Llamados In PBA Season 37 After Leaving The Alaska Aces?
“I’m going to see whatever opportunity is out there,” said Cone last Thursday. “I don’t have anything firm. I don’t have a firm offer and I haven’t done anything to search out. I’m kind of open and I’m hoping that there’ll be something out there.”
That has been the most talked about statement this week of one of the most successful coaches in the PBA's history, coach Tim Cone, who has already retired from being the head coach of the Alaska Aces. But, the thing is, he wants to explore other opportunities. And, those other opportunities could well be in the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados especially now that he's been set free by the Aces, and now that B-Meg's interim head coach, Mr. Richard Del Rosario's other coaching jobs are still active and that one of the conditions of his coaching contract with B-Meg is that if he will accept the coaching job for the Llamados, he will have to quit his two other coaching jobs and that includes being the head coach of the College of St. Benilde Blazers and being the head coach of PC Gilmore. And also, if he becomes a PBA coach, he will no longer be allowed to be a TV game commentator with TV5. All those factors are not favorable to Mr. Del Rosario's career as a coach. That's why I think that he will not last as B-Meg's head coach and that sooner or later, the Llamados will be looking for a more available coach to serve as his replacement, and that could be Tim Cone.
In line with that idea of Tim Cone's possible stint as B-Meg's Head Coach in the PBA Season 37, a reliable source said in an article found in Manila Bulletin that:
"That’s a different story now, because coach Tim is available. Definitely there is an interest, but this is still subject to a decision of higher management. Kung interesado din naman si coach Tim sa SMC, for sure hindi naman din aayaw ang SMC sa kanya. With coach Ato Agustin fresh from steering Petron Blaze to the Governors Cup championship against Talk ’N Text, and with Barangay Ginebra to be handled by Siot Tanquingcen and assisted by Jong Uichico, the logical destination is still Cone joining B-Meg. At the beginning, he can be a team consultant, and eventually he will take over the team, probably after the All-Filipino conference.”
What the source said are the reasons why we should not be surprised if Tim Cone becomes part of the B-Meg Llamados' coaching staff in the near future.
