Why Dylan Ababou Didn't Play In The LG Sakers vs. Ginebra Exhibition Game

Avid Ginebra fans trouped into the Smart Araneta Coliseum last September 9, 2014 for the exhibition game between Korea's LG Sakers and the crowed favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

The game was a nip and tuck affair but the LG Sakers pulled away late in the 3rd quarter to establish enough cushion that carried them all the way to victory via 81-76.

After the game, some of our readers asked why Dylan Ababou and Jens Knuttel didn't suit up for BGSM. And so we tried our best to get in touch with the said players. Good thing Dylan replied to our query despite his busy schedule.

We asked him why he didn't participate in the exhibition game. He said that he underwent another surgery on his knee.

"Ah nagpa opera kasi ako ng meniscus," Dylan said.

We didn't ask him further questions because we know deep inside that Dylan wanted to play in that game especially in front of the thousands of Ginebra fans who came in to watch the game live at the venue. We just said Godbless and get well soon Dylan.

Ababou suffered an ACL injury on his right knee in 2012. He was sidelined for 9 months and then on November 2013, he was re-activated by Ginebra. He played on the opening game of the Gin Kings against SanMig. He exploded for 16 big points to help beat the Coffee Mixers.

Fast forward to the present, Dylan is again on the recovery stage after going through a tough meniscus surgery. Hopefully when he comes back, good things will happen to his team.
