Smart Gilas Pilipinas Injury Update Straight From Coach Chot Reyes

After grinding it out in Spain for the FIBA World Cup 2014, the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National Team will once again represent our country in the upcoming Asian Games 2014 slated this September 19 to October 4, 2014 in Incheon Korea.

But unlike their preparation prior to the FIBA World Cup, their journey to Incheon is shaping to have plenty of red flags. One of which is the Andray Blatche eligibility issue.

Coach Chot addressed that in an interview on AKSYON with Miss Luchi Cruz Valdez.

"Napakalaking effect yung kay Andray. Although pinayagan nila si Marcus, magkaiba silang dalawa e. Si Dray malaki sya kay Marcus. He can shoot from the perimeter and drive to the basket. Si Marcus is a big man, inside play siya. Blatche can play with Junemar. Marcus and Junemar, inside-inside mangyayari dun," said Coach Chot.

Aside from that, he also shared the team's injury woes days before the Asian Games 2014.

"Jayson's condition is not too good. In San Sebastian Spain medyo na sprain yung achilles tendon niya. Naapektuhan din tuhod niya kasi inaalalayan niya yung paa niya. Parang dalawa nininurse niya. Titignan pa natin status niya in the next few days. Si Marc Pingris naman may plantar fasciitis. Kahit nung game pa sa Senegal masakit na yun pero kaya naman i-rest yun. Same with Paul Lee. May konting hamstring injury siya," Coach Chot added.

Our team definitely needs to get some rest in order to recuperate and recharge for the Asian Games.
