Sprite NBA 3X Philippines Quenched The Thirst of Filipinos for Great Basketball Action and Entertainment at MOA Music Hall

Sprite has been true to its reputation as one of the world’s best thirst quenchers both beverage wise and sports wise via the NBA 3X Philippines that the brand continuously presents here in the Philippines.

This year, Sprite did it again by partnering with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to give the country’s basketball aficionados an all-star treat on the court at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall last July 4 to 6.

NBA 3X Philippines 2014 Presented by Sprite featured NBA All-Star and Slam Dunk Finalist DeRozan and LA Lakers’ swingman Wesley Johnson who participated in some of the key event activities. Together with Jr. NBA coach Chris Sumner, the lovely Toronto Raptors Dance Pak, and The jolly NBA mascot, the two athletic NBA players helped in a basketball clinic for a select group of young ballers. They shared some basketball drills that can sharpen the skills of the participants.

The basketball clinic ushered in the latter parts of the NBA 3 on 3 basketball games and slam dunk contest. In the 3 on 3 category, Team EGS Elite repeats as Men’s Open Division Champion while in the Women’s Open Division the National University reigned supreme.

With regard to the slam dunk contest, David Carlos, last year’s Sprite Slam Dunk champion, made his stamp in this event for the 2nd time. To seal his 2nd title, he wowed the crowd with a slamma jamma in the basket over the heads of two players. That dunk earned for him a perfect score and ultimately the title - all 10’s from judges DeMar DeRozan, Wesley Johnson, a Toronto Dance Pak member, Barry del Rosario, Sprite Brand Group Manager and Carlo Singson, NBA Asia Country Manager, Philippines.

The high octane hoops action was made even better with the free Sprite in cans that provided sudden intense refreshment that only the green beverage can bring!

All of the activities from the 3 on 3 matches, the slam dunk competition, the basketball clinic, and the 3 on 3 matches not only showcased the amazing basketball skills of the Filipino ballers, but also their dedication for the game they love the most.

But I can’t deny it, the arguably highlight of the event is getting to meet and greet DeMar DeRozan who is one of the fastest rising stars in the NBA. It has easily become of the highlights of my sports blogging career.
