Roi Sumang Wins Accel 3XVI UAAP Press Corps Player of The Week Award

Mr. Roi Sumang!

By Val Marvin G. Macanas

Manila, Philippines – AFTER Paul Lee another guard from the UE Red Warriors is making a lot noise in the world of Philippine College Basketball. He is Shej Roi Sumang.

Game winners here and there, impressive slashing ability and overwhelming jumping prowess, Roi can do all of those things via his 5’7-5’8 frame.

Isn’t that amazing?

He is the perfect example of the cliché “It’s not about the size of the athlete, it’s about the size of fight in him.” I saw the HUGE fight in Roi when he took it upon himself to lift the UE Red Warriors against the UST Tigers via 68-67 last Thursday.

With Less than 15 seconds left in regulation, Roi was able to manufacture a game winning lay-up against the number 3 shot blocker in the League, Karim Abdul.

UE won that game largely because of Roi's Herculian effort. He finished the game with a double-double 22 points, 10 assists, and 4 rebounds. His performance convinced the UAAP Press Corps to give him the Player of The Week Award.

Roi is the 1st player not from FEU to receive the Player of The Week Award so far this UAAP Season. Congrats Roi Sumang!
