Coach Spoelstra Revisits Philippines For The 3rd Time: Here's The Schedule of Basketball Clinics and NBA Trophy Tour

    By Val Marvin G. Macanas

    "It's nice to be back!"

Coach Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat is here in the Philippines for the third time. Luckily, I was invited to attend his PressCon at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City earlier today.

Coach Spoelstra loves the Philippines. That was evident in his opening remarks to start the PressCon a while ago. So much so that he asked his Personal Assistant to clear his July and early August 2012 Schedule for him to be able to revisit the Philippines.

Coach Spoesltra- the first ever Filipino-American Coach to ever win an NBA Title even said that
“The Philippines is so special for me in my heart. My Filipino heritage is very important to me. Our players in the NBA are aware of our passion for the sport and I’m proud of that. I hope we can make this an annual thing."

During the PressCon, I learned that Coach Spoelstra will be conducting Basketball Camps, Coaching Talk, Interactive Viewing Party, and NBA Trophy Tour. Yeah, you heard that right. He will share to all of us the very captivating Larry O' Brien trophy. The trophy that was kissed by the Big 3 of the Miami Heat.

If you want to see Coach Erik Spoelstra and the Larry O'Brien Trophy take note of the following dates that are listed below as there will be an NBA Trophy Tour presented by Gatorade.
    1.SM North Edsa, Saturday August 4 (The Block Atrium, 2 – 3pm)
    2.SM Megamall, Sunday August 5 (Event Center, 2:30 – 3:30pm)
3.SM Mall of Asia (MOA) same day, Sunday, August 5 (Music Hall, 4:30 – 5:30pm).
*(Fans will be able to get up close to the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy and see Coach Spo at the various SM Malls.)
    4. In preparation for NBA 3X that will take place at the SM MOA from August 17 – 19, Coach Spo will also conduct an NBA 3X Clinic for teen boys and girls at the Jose Rizal University on August 4 at 9 a.m.

BallersPinas.com and other sports websites also got the opportunity to ask Coach Spoelstra if he wants to be part of the Gilas 2.0 coaching staff, if there are Filipino players that he wants to bring to the the Heat Training Camp... etc. His answers to the questions are in the video below.
