Don Don Hontiveros Moves Out Of Gilas: Larry Fonacier or Ryan Reyes To Replace Him For FIBA Asia Championship 2011

The 6'2 shooter of Smart Gilas Pilipinas, Don Don Hontiveros, has finally made an announcement that he will no longer play for Gilas in the upcoming FIBA Asia Championship in Wuhan, China because of the too much body exhaustion that he experienced in the recently concluded William Jones Cup 2011 in Taiwan wherein they placed 3rd behind South Korea and Iran.

The Cebuano Hotshot clarified that there were no personal issues between him and coach Rajko Toroman of Gilas. He added that he has so much respect for Toroman and that the rumors that Toroman scolded him for his poor performance in the Jones Cup were not true.

Before he left the team, Don Don recommended some PBA players who can take his spot for the FIBA Asia Championship 2011. He recommended Ryan Reyes, James Yap, Ronjay Buenafe, Gary David, Cyrus Baguio and Larry Fonacier.

But Smart Gilas said that they are inclined to choosing between the 6'3 Larry Fonacier and 6'1 Ryan Reyes.
