Arellano Chiefs Beat JRU Heavy Bombers in NCAA Season 87 Basketball Game

The Arellano University Chiefs have finally entered the winning column and have finally beaten JRU in the NCAA Season 87. JRU is one of the two teams that they have not beaten since they entered the NCAA in 2009. They showed great hard work and great resiliency just to win this game because one of their leaders Isiah Ciricruz will have to seat out the rest of the season because of an injury. Their other leader, the former PCCR High School Superstar, Adrian Celada, was still cold from the outside but fortunately their bench players showed up for them to get this win, 79-75 over the JRU Heavy Bombers via overtime.

The game was close right from the get go as both of the teams were very determined to get their first win of the season, but only one of them had to win and it was Arellano. The Chiefs now have 1 win and 1 loss while JRU goes down in the team standings along with Perpetual Help Altas with no win and 2 losses.

JRU was able to lead by 3 points over the Arellano Chiefs in the last 10 seconds of the 4th quarter via Alex Almario's booming three pointer, 71-68, but Arellano's undersized big man, Gerald Layug didn't give up just yet as he was able to get a free lane from one end to another because there was no ball stop for JRU. That free lane enabled him to unleash a game tying three pointer to beat the game clock. He was able to tie the score, 71-71. The game went into overtime to determine who the winner was.

The extra 5 minutes belonged to the Arellano Chiefs. Arellano's Vergel Zulueta, the former San Sebastian Stag made some crucial shots that sealed the win for the Chiefs. He was eventually named as the best player of the game with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Coach Leo Isaac of the Chiefs can't help but be happy with the result of this game. He said that:
