Diego Maradona To Coach In Dubai For Al-Wasl Team

The legendary football coach, Diego Maradona will take his knowledge to a different dimension as he will coach a professional football team in Dubai known as Al-Wasl. He has a 2 season contract with the team.

The team made an announcement about the arrival of Maradona in Dubai. They said:

"Al-Wasl Sports Club is proud to announce the appointment of Diego Armando Maradona as head coach of Al-Wasl Football Club, in a momentous development that will see the football legend lead the team for the next two seasons."

Maradon is now 50 years old and his new team wants him to make a difference in just 2 seasons. I hope Maradona can make such a development in just a very short time. Maradona was the manager of Argentina in the last World Cup in South Africa but after they lost to Germany, he was removed from his post. He has been a world traveler. He has served Iran and he has been in the Enhlish Premier League. He's also known as the great football player that Argentina has produced.

When Maradona saw the facilities of his new team in Dubai, he immediately accepted the offer.

Charmain Marwan Bin Bayat of Al-Wasl said:

"Al-Wasl Sports Club has become synonymous with achievements of this calibre, and we are very pleased to be welcoming Maradona to a long line of accolades in the club's history. This partnership embodies the vision of the club as it embraces forward thinking developments in the region to establish unprecedented standards for the sport. Maradona won 91 caps for his country and scored 34 goals in a career that spanned 21 years and saw him play in Argentina, Spain and Italy."

Maradona will replace Sergio Farias who led Al-Wasl to be in the 4th place of the domestic league in Dubai. The team is currently behind Al-Jazira by 16 points. In 2007, Al-Wasl won the top honors of the said league. They are counting on Maradona to lead them again to the promise land.
