Ateneo Beats NU Bulldogs In 2011 FilOil Premier Cup Preseason Basketball

Greg Slaughter was not able to play for the Ateneo Blue Eagles in their match against the NU Bulldogs. The Blue Eagles stiil beat the Bulldogs despite big games from their imports and Bobby Parks Jr. The score was 71 to 66. The former Chang Kai Shek center, Justine Chua and the former king Eaglet, Kiefer Ravena helped Ateneo in winning this ball game.

Kiefer Ravena was blocked in the first half and he was fired up from then on. He didn't make a let down despite that block. He had 13 points which was highlighted by a dazzling lay-up in front of NU's import. Justine Chua on the other hand had 17 points.

Bobby Parks Jr. had 21 big points. He visited the free throw line several times because the Eagles had a hard time in containing him. He was the one who blocked Ravena. People in the arena shouted with oohs and ahhs after the block. Ateneo's assistant coach Sandy Arespacochaga said:

“We actually did a bad job, sending him to the line nine times, but I’m happy with his field goal percentage. You can’t stop him from scoring, so forcing him into bad shots is key.”

Glenn Khobuntin, NU's veteran shooting guard had 10 points. He also showed some very promising power moves and leadership for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs showed great promise in this game. They scared the Eagles because of their fine showing. I'm sure they will make more noise come the UAAP Season 74.
