Adamson Lady Falcons Beat USLS In Game 1 Of Semis In V League Season 8 2011: Maizo not a Factor

The Adamson Lady Falcons won game 1 of their best of 3 semi-finals series against the University of St. La Salle of Bacolod. The complete set scores were:

    25-19, 25-23, 25-22

The Lady Falcons were very lucky that the new guest players of USLS have not yet adjusted quite well for the Stingers. Aiza Maizo was not able to be a factor in game 1. The sets of USLS's setter were off and Maizo was not able to fully spike the ball well because she's a lefty spiker. The setter has not adjusted with Maizo's abilities. The other guest player who's also a lefty was Jovelyn "Jove" Gonzaga. She was not able to show her full potential in game 1. She still has jetlag after her long trip from Iloilo.

    Mommy Dulce Pante said:
“Tao sa tao halos magkasing lakas lang, pero kanina lamang kami sa depensa," said Adamson coach Dulce Pante. “Hindi nila mabigyan ng maganda si Maizo. Iba kasi ang palo ni Maizo kasi kaliwete, mas sanay sila talaga kay Dimaculangan (Rhea)."

In this game Maizo had several errors. Nene Bautista capitalized with those errors. She won the set for Adamson.

Denila and Abayon were the ones who helped the Stingers stay on the game. They had back to back hits that gave their team a 3 point lead in the third set, 18-15. That was the first taste of having a lead in the game after that the Lady Falcons have made a run to get back the lead and eventually win in three straight sets.

Nene Bautista was the player of the game with 18 points and 2 blocks. Benting and Soriano had 12 and 10 points a piece.
