UST Lady Tigresses Beats Ateneo In UAAP 73 Volleyball Opening Game, A Classic

Aiza Maizo was the lone bright spot for the UST Lady Tigresses as Judy Caballejo and Maru Banaticla struggled to score.

They were also very susceptible to the soft but tricky spikes of the Ateneo Lady Eagles. This was because Din Din Santiago, a great blocker, transferred to NU.

But thank God, UST's star Aiza Maizo stepped up her game and she was named as the best player of the game. She had 32 points in the form of 29 attacks and 3 blocks.

The game was really close, in fact it was a classic. Tomorrow, the replay of this very thrilling game will be on Balls Channel in Sky Cable.

The complete sets scores are 25 - 13 in the first set, 18 - 25 in the second set, 19 - 25 in the third set, 26 - 24, in the fourth set and 15 - 13 in the fifth set.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles has really changed a lot from being the pushovers in the league to being one of the best recruiting schools in the league and now, as one of the teams who can win the championship.

They have recruited some promising players who are not only good on the court but also very charming on TV. But it was the short but charming open hitter of the Ateneo Lady Eagles that kept them afloat. Her name is Jorella Marie G. De Jesus, Ella for short. She was given the alias by Ma'am Mozzy Ravena as the Ateneo's Spark Plug. She's also known to many as Ella-vator. She had a splendid game. Giving push spikes all around. The UST blockers can't seem to check her soft but blurry hits. She's like an assassin.
