EIGHT interesting double-headers that could significantly affect the standings have been calendared this week as the pro league’s Halloween treat for fans.

Two certified thrillers this Wednesday serve as curtain raiser of the four-day "Halloween Special," with San Miguel Beer’s bid for a third straight win drawing much of the attention.

Their egos battered after a disappointing 83-97 loss to Talk N Text three weeks ago, the Beermen bounced back with a heart-stopping 69-68 decision over Barangay Ginebra last Oct. 17 and followed it with a 119-94 blasting of the Powerade Tigers last Sunday in Panabo City.

The Beermen go for their third straight win at the expense of the Alaska Aces, who are themselves driven by their desire to bounce back from a frustrating loss to Air 21 last Friday.

The SMB-Alaska showdown is set at 7:30 p.m. after the 5 o’clock battle between TNT and Powerade.

"All of these games are must-see and I assure the fans they’ll get their money’s worth," said PBA Commissioner Chito Salud.

Six equally interesting match-ups are also set through Friday, Saturday and Sunday also at the Big Dome.

Still thrilled over the win that snapped Alaska’s 3-0 start, Air 21 aims for a third straight win at the expense of struggling Barako Bull Rain and Rain or Shine, the team that dealt TNT its first loss in the Philippine Cup last Wednesday, takes on Barangay Ginebra on Oct 29.

The Beermen return to the court on Oct. 30 to test the mettle of defending champion B-Meg Derby Ace which finally broke into the win-column with a 75-71 decision last Wednesday against Meralco. The Bolts hope to bounce back from that loss when they battle the Powerade Tigers.

Barako Bull and RoS play their second game in three nights when they clash at 4 p.m. on Oct.31. The match precedes the 6 o’clock showdown between Alaska and TNT.
