Mountain bike enthusiasts conquer #RideMTBDay at The Bike Playground in Circulo Verde

CIRCULO VERDE, QUEZON CITY – When there's a bike event, "The Bike Playground" is the place to be. Once again, the venue gathered the growing mountain bike riding community in Metro Manila as it hosted the Manila leg of the #RIDEMTBDAY in Circulo Verde, a 10-hectare mixed use development of Ortigas & Company.

The Ride Mountain Bike Day or #RIDEMTBDAY is the annual gathering of mountain bike enthusiasts all over the world; celebrated by holding group rides, demos, and races on the same day. This year, the celebration is made bigger in the Philippines as riders across the country take part of the global movement simultaneously. Biking aficionados from Manila, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, and Cagayan De Oro all joined in on the festivities.

Pump Track Challenge Contenders bested each other inside The Bike Playground’s indoor pump track.

July 20 was the designated date for hundreds of mountain bike lovers to come together in Circulo Verde to join mountain biking activities such as The Outdoor Time Trial, where bikers try to ride the bike trail in the shortest time possible, and the Pump Track Challenge where two bikers go in an individually-timed run into a maze of rollers, each trying to cross the finish line without pedaling.

Kids aged 2 to 7 joined in on the fun at The Bike Playground for the Striders Cup.

The future pro bikers, the young ones also got to participate in the festivities in The Strider Cup. Kids aged 2 to 7 joined the friendly competition where they showed off their striding skills inside a kids’ track, putting their mountain bike riding skills to the test.

Bagging top prize for the outdoor time trial activity is AK Angelo for the Women’s Open and Enzo Relloza for the Men’s Open. For the Pump Track Challenge, Mac Geronimo takes the lead for the Youth Category, EJ Sarabia for the 19-29 year-old category, Paul Andre Puertollano in the 30-39 category, and Gil Ofiana for the 40 years old and above category. Nammi Gardoce and Kimi Grande also bagged the top crown for the Women’s and Men’s Open, respectively.

Completing the Ride Mountain Bike Day festivities are mini events such as the helmet trade-in, bike repair and tune-up, fastest bike assembly challenge, and raffle draws.

Taking place all around the globe, #RIDEMTBDAY has been a platform of mountain bike aficionados to show their love and support for the sport. Since its inception in 2018, more than 40 countries such as the United States, South Africa, Mexico, Japan, and the United Kingdom have joined the event.

This year’s #RIDEMTBDAY saw The Bike Playground partnering with R.O.X. (Recreational Outdoor eXchange) for the event, and with brands such as Fox Racing Philippines, Osprey, Salomon, BMC, RD Cycles, Dan’s Bikeshop, Shimano, Black Mamba, Strider Philippines, and Celeste Cycles PH also participating.
