Jordan Brand Slam Dunk Collection To Be Out In The Philippines

We Filipinos love watching Takehiko Inoue's creation entitled "Slam Dunk." So much so that we baptized Sakuragi's look alike in Philippine Basketball Marc Pingris as The Pinoy Sakuragi.

The reason why we're addicted to watching Hanamichi's exploits on the basketball court is complicated. Let's face the fact that he's not that good in playing basketball, but because he knows how to work hard and loves the sport as much as we do, we became his follower unconsciously.

    90's

During the ‘90s, the game of basketball experienced rapid globalization. Basketball fans around the world tuned in to watch the top talent in the game. Michael Jordan became the face of the basketball surge, rising to global super-stardom and inspiring a legion of fans — including Japanese manga artist, Takehiko Inoue.

In 1990, Inoue introduced the world to the fictional character Hanamichi Sakuragi – the protagonist in his popular “Slam Dunk” manga series. Sakuragi began as an outcast at his high school with a reputation for causing trouble. After a girl rejected him, he tried out for the basketball team, where he showcased his natural athleticism and helped turn his previously unknown high school team into an all-star contender in Japan.

MJ and Slam Dunk reached great heights in the 90's, making basketball a world-wide phenomenon. No wonder, Jordan Brand decided to bring to life the iconic Sakuragi in an epic collaboration.

Will the collaboration be available in the Philippines?
