The NU Pep Squad nabbed their 2nd straight UAAP Cheerdance Competition title yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Their title defense against the top squads like UP and UST was a success as they amassed a whopping 677.5 total points coming from the elite judges. The American Native theme that NU utilized proved to be potent as they bested their competition.
Aside from the amazing theme, the Bulldogs also showed highly complicated stunts and pyramids. Their coach was right when she challenged her team to take it to the limit this year. All summer long they prepared really hard, and now, their hard-work paid off.
The UST Salingawi Dance Troupe meanwhile also showed some improvement from last year’s competition. They came in and bagged the 2nd place trophy by virtue of 625 points. They also pulled off a much cleaner stunts and formations compared to their performance last year. They're definitely back on track.
The mighty UP Ped Squad on the other hand showed their "Equality" themed performance wherein there were reversal of roles - the ladies carried the gents. For me it was a solid performance right from the start, enough to earn the First Place plum with 658 points.
