#PLAYPINOY allows Filipino youth to showcase their skills and passion for the game

, August 7, 2014 – True to its vision of helping athletes from all over the world, Nike brings the spirit of Filipino basketball to a new level with the #PLAYPINOY tournament, inviting all basketball crazy teens in Manila to take part. The #PLAYPINOY tournament is a fast-paced and unconventional 5-on-5 pick-up style tournament for the youth.

“#PLAYPINOY is a platform to enable the youth to embrace their basketball roots and express their love of the game,” said Courtney Cole-Faso, Country Marketing Manager for Nike

. “Nike is a firm believer in encouraging young people to lead an active life, and while we know that many Filipino youth play basketball, we want to give them the chance to show off their skills and celebrate the unique Filipino style of basketball”.

The tournament will run over three weekends, Aug 16 – 17 and Aug 23 – 24 with the finals on Aug 30. Registration begins on August 8.

APPENDIX 1: Registration Information

Dates: Aug 8 – Aug 11, 2014 (First come, first served or until all slots are taken)

Locations: Nike Park Trinoma, Nike Forum Greenhills, Nike Park Bonifacio High Street and Nike Park Mall of Asia

Time: 11am – 8pm

To qualify for registration, #PLAYPINOY participants must be at least 15 years old on August 16and not older than 18 years old throughout the duration of the tournament from August 16-30, 2014, and must be a legal Filipino resident. A minimum of one (1) team representative must be present at registration with the following documentation for ALL team members:

a. 1x1 ID picture OR valid school ID

b. Certified True copy of birth certificate

c. Parent’s consent (if under 18) and signed event waiver form (to be provided at registration site)
