Manila, Philippines-- Ian Sangalang, San Mig Coffee's second overall pick in this year's PBA Draft spoke about his growing rivalry with Ginebra's number one draft pick Greg Slaughter, right after their first showdown last Sunday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum wherein San Mig bowed down to Ginebra, 86-69, in the opening game of the PLDT MyDSL Philippine Cup.

A number of fans inside the Coliseum even brought streamers to let the other people know they are eager to see the match-up of Ian Sangalang and Greg Slaughter.

Ian is aware of the so called rivalry which started even before the PBA Draft. He even left a comment about it, saying that there's a "HEALTHY COMPETITION" between him and Greg.

"Tignan na lang natin sa husga ng mga tao diyan. Ako diko masabi. Okay naman kami ni Greg e," bared the Lefty big man Sangalang to BallersPinas.

When asked if Greg Slaughter brought out the best in him in last night's game, Sangalang just said that he just wants to seize the opportunity given to him by coach Tim Cone.

"Well, una excited ako maglaro kahapon sabi ko nga pag binigyan ako pagkakataon ni coach Tim bibigay ko best ko. About Greg? Hindi naman... siguro focused lang talaga ako sa game. Gawin ko role ko."

He also exhibited a strong sense of competitiveness in our conversation as he highlighted the sense of fulfillment that winning can give to a basketball player.

"Masarap maglaro pero mas masarap sana kung nanalo," he added.

For sure, Ian will bounce back Big Time in their 2nd game to earn for his team that first win in the All-Filipino Conference.

Ian scored a total of 8 points, 2-point shy from matching Greg's 10 point output.
