Manila, Philippines -- Happiness was written all over the face of Coach Al Francis Chua when he shared to BallersPinas his thoughts about the breakthrough win of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA Governors' Cup 2013 over the Air21 Express last Wednesday night at the Cuneta Astrodome via 106-93.
"You know I'm still in the bench of Ginebra, giving some morale boost to the players. I saw them dun sa game namin against Alaska, ngayon they are really playing as a team. Finally, talagang lumabas na yung laro namin against Air21. Sabi ko tuloy tuloy na ito. Ang problema nalang talaga wala kaming enough big man. Alam naman natin wala na si Rudy, wala si Kerby, wala rin si Japeth. But the thing is, ang nakakatuwa lang EVERYBODY IS CONTRIBUTING! Yung import alam na niya ang role niya tapos si Mamaril nagcontribute din and nag step-up siya nung Wednesday. Sina LA and Mark naman they are slowly getting back to their scoring form. Nagcocontribute narin sila sa scoring and that made me smile. Team effort talaga." said the former headcoach of Ginebra, who's now part of the team's Coaching Staff, Coach Al.
In line with the much improved Team Scoring of Ginebra, BallersPinas asked Coach Al on how Mark Caguioa's Tweet few days ago affected the players.
"Ganun si Mark e. Mark is very honest. Mark is a fighter. Kung ano nararamdaman niya sinasabi niya kasi the guy doesn't want to lose. Yan ang gusto ko kay Mark talagang winner. Good thing his teammates responded and played well against Air21," admitted Coach Al who also shared how happy the players were after the game.
"Masayang masaya ang atmosphere sa dugout after the game. Nakakatuwa dahil everybody is helping everyone. Yun lang ang sinasabi ko sa kanila since before, trust yourself and trust your teammates. Yan ang lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila. So far it's working. Yan ang secret ng team. Damayan talaga," shared Coach Al to BallersPinas.
"Hopefully makarevor na ang mga players especially yung mga injured ones like Kerby para makapagcontribute na lahat kasi this is a very short league," he added.
Coach Al ended the exclusive interview by thanking the fans of Ginebra.
"Sa mga fans ng Ginebra alam mong mahal na mahal ko sila. Sila ang bumuhay sa'min. Sila ang nagbibigay sa amin ng lakas. Kaya ho nandito si Al Chua because of them," highlighted Coach Al.
