    By Kristina Caramel Sy

Manila, Philippines - Despite being sick, Raymond Almazan still managed to propel the Letran Knights to a very impressive 5-0 record in the NCAA Season 89. He garnered 19 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocks to lead Letran against the Lyceum Pirates. The final score was 61-53, in favor of the Knights.

An 18-4 run in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter practically sealed the win for the Knights. It gave Letran their biggest lead of the ball game, 49-36. From that point on, the Knights never looked back to the Pirates.

Inspite of this very impressive victory, Coach Caloy Garcia still addressed the deficiency of his team.

"Turnovers talaga namin is too high eh. 26 turnovers. but then we are lucky that they missed their free throws" said Coach Caloy.

The Lyceum Pirates tried to keep the game close as they managed to tie the game in the 1st half and keep the game chlose. Isaiah Mbomiko, with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists along with Arwin Azores contributed heavily for the Pirates in the 1st half.

Letran capitalized on the Pirates' poor freethrow shooting as they only made 14 out of 23 free throws.
