The UE Red Warriors won the 2013 FilOil Flying V Hanes Premiere Cup title last June 12 (Independence Day) at the San Juan Arena, beating the defending champs and the "unbeatable team in the league, the National University Bulldogs, 81-68.

Roi Sumang, the Most Valuable Player of the league, sank 18 points with 9 rebounds and 6 assists in this game that made the Warriors upbeat all throughout the game.

Aside from Sumang, Ralf Olivarez, the top scorer of the match, contributed 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals that helped the Warriors in widening their lead in the last 5 minutes of the game via his multiple trips to the free throw line.

He said in the post game interview that he needs to step up in this game to support his team in winning the championship match. Also, Lord Casajeros who got fired up in the 2nd quarter of the game produced 2 three pointers that uplifted the spirits of the Warriors. He looked really inspired in this game.

On the other side of the court, National University collapsed when Bobby Ray Parks fouled out of the playing court in the last 5:44 minutes of the game. NU only produced 13 points in the last quarter while UE tallied 31 points.

That was pretty much the story of the game. UE outscored NU in the 3rd Quarter and that dictated the result of the game.

Coach Zamar jokingly said as he assessed his team's performance "Cum Laude pa lang kami, wala pa kami sa SUMANG Cum Laude."

Meanwhile,San Beda Red Lions, the only NCAA team who entered the semis, crashed the UST Growling Tigers, 74-70, and crowned as the 3rd placers of the league.
