Kiefer Ravena Shines as Ateneo Beat La Salle In FilOil Flying V Pre Season Cup 2013 Showdown

Kiefer "The Phenom" Ravena did it again for the Ateneo De Manila Blue Eagles as he led his team in defeating their arch rivals the DLSU Green Archers, 78-70, in the 2013 FilOil Flying V Hanes Pre-Season Cup held at The Arena in San Juan.

Despite having only one legit big man on the floor in the person of Frank Golia, the Blue Eagles showed that discipline on both the offensive and defensive end is enough to beat a team that has a huge frontline. At first I though that DLSU' frontline would have an easy time in scoring inside against Ateneo's defense, but I was wrong.

La Salle's new Big Man, Jason Perkins started the game with an impressive 3 pointer, but Ateneo answered on the other end. The game was tight in the first few minutes of the first quarter, but it all changed when Ateneo's run and gun game started to click.

Kiefer Ravena and Chris Newsome jumpstarted Ateneo's offense. The first quarter ended with Ateneo having a 9 poont edge, 24-15.

Since then they never looked back to La Salle. La Salle made run in the latter part of the 4th Quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the cushion that Ateneo built in the previous quarters.

The final score was 78-70. Kiefer finished the game with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. He was subsequently chosen to be the best player of the ballgame.
