San Sebastian Stags Loses To Ateneo Blue Eagles ; UE Beats SWU In FilOil Flying V Pre Season Cup 2013

    By Kristina Caramel Sy

The Ateneo Blue Eagles survived a tough game against the San Sebastian College Recoletos Golden Stags, 70-75 in the FilOil Flying V Pre-Season Cup 2013.

Ateneo struggled in the earlier parts of the game as they were not able to trim down their deficit due to the tough defense of the SSC-R Stags.

Kiefer Ravena, the best scorer of the game, tallied a total of 19 points and 9 rebounds in this match. He turned out to be the savior of ADMU in this very thrilling ball-game.

He was assisted by Ateneo's new scorer, Chris Newsome who got 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals.

Jon Rebollos, the leading scorer for the Stags contributed 3 three-pointers. Bradwyn Guinto and Jaymark "The Beast junior" pitched in some points and consistently sank their charities. They produced 28 points combined.

The Stags strived hard to beat the Blue Eagles via their new "Big 3" but they fell short as Ateneo won the game via 75-70.

SSC-R Head Coach, Topex Robinson said that he was very glad to be back in Baste together with his new coaching staff. He also stated that being with the new set of Stags for two months is not an excuse to not perform well in this Pre-Season league. He's very excited to see his new set of players who are willing to prove their worth in the Stags' basketball program.

Meanwhile, the UE Red Warriors vanquished the SWU Cobras in their face-off in the FilOil FLying V Cup with a final score of 81-62.

The Red Warriors never gave SWU a chance to gain momentum right from the start. Sumang and Santos blasted with a combined 37 big points to frustrate the Cobras.

Gino Jumao-As, the Warriors' new player showed some brilliance in this game. He contributed some points for the Red Warriors.

Coach Zamar, the head coach of the UE Red Warriors, challenged his team to rise to the occasion and bring back the lost glory of UE in the world of college basketball.

    Good thing they responded.

UE players Santos and Sumang said that they are ready to face the challenge of their coach.
