Al Francis Chua, New Head Coach of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel : The Great Motivator Could Be The Answer! Why?

The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel started year 2013 with a bold move. They have decided to replace their head coach, Siot Tanquincen with the "Great Motivator" Al Francis Chua who's claim to fame happened in the PBL ranks when he led the Tanduay Team to numerous championships.

On The Importance of Having Motivational Skills

I've talked to a lot of Coaches, one of them is Coach Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat when he visited the Philippines few months after their Championship run in the NBA.

Throughout the course of our conversation, I noticed that he was not putting a lot of emphasis on the plays/offensive sets that he asked his players (LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Battier, Chalmers etc.) do on the floor, he was more passionate in sharing how he was able to motivate his players when they feel bad or when they are having an off night.

Coach Erik was very thankful that he was able to talk with LeBron, Wade and Bosh during their ups and downs last Season. Of course, to cut the long story short, the by product of those long bitter-sweet conversations is the 2011-2012 NBA Championship Trophy. That just proves how important it is for a Coach to have great motivational skills especially when you have plenty of Star players in your team.

    Why Coach Al?

Ginebra also has plenty of Star players like the Heat, therefore, they may also need a coach who has great motivational skills. A coach like Al Francis Chua could be the mentor that they need right now.

To prove how great Coach Chua is as a motivator, his former Player, the former PBA MVP Eric Menk spoke to Snow Badua minutes after the news broke out earlier today. Menk recalls how he was able to enjoy playing for Chua in the PBL, in Tanduay, saying that he flourished as a player because of Chua's great motivational skills and unique coaching style wherein he let's his players be confident on the floor no matter what.

What Will Happen To Coach Siot?

BGSM asked Coach Siot to be part of the Coaching Staff. No word yet on whether he accepted the offer or not.

at least si Chua is not a former San Miguel player & coach to handle Ginebra, unlike the past coaches(jong, caidic, siot) their heart is still with San Miguel that;s why when Ginebra & San Miguel/Petron colliding in a series, Ginebra gives way
