Philippine Azkals Beat Vietnam via Chieffy Caligdong ‘s Goal: AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 Semifinals Hope Is Still ALIVE!

    By Val Marvin Macanas

The Philippine Azkals were able to keep their AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 Semifinals hopes alive after they beat Vietnam via 1-0. Manong Chieffy Caligdong was the one who nailed the lone goal late in the match.

It was a tight match in the beginning. Both of the goalies of the two teams performed really well. Phil had several chances to score a goal but the Goalie of the opposing team read him very well.

Minutes passed and then Manong Chieffy came in as a substitute for James Younghusband in the 74’ of the match.

He wasted no time in looking for a chance to score a goal.

Lo and behold, Angel Guirado found Chieffy in the left corner of the pitch. Chieffy used his snake like football maneuvering skills to find the crease in between the defenders then he sent the ball into the goal in the 85’ mark of the match.

Chieffy’s goal sealed the win for the Philippine Azkals.

Coach Weiss was not in the Azkals bench due to suspension slapped on him. Good thing, the Azkals were able to pull this one off with coach Edwin Cabalida acting as the head coach.

The Philippine Azkals will face Myanmar on Friday. They'll enter the cross-over semifinals if they win in that match.
