NCAA Season 88 Opening Ceremony Videos: These Are The Highlight Videos of The NCAA 88 Opening Ceremony

Ok, to those who missed the NCAA Season 88 Opening Ceremonies yesterday at The Smart Araneta Coliseum, here's what happened. The Red Cross Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon was the guest of honor of the event. He came into the Smart Araneta Coliseum to watch the opening ceremony and to watch the first game which is Letran vs. San Sebastian. Unknown to some, he is also a big fan of basketball.

The program proper started around 2 p.m.. The president of the schools were presented. Then a traditional procession of the Dominican priest happened. They were wearing black robes while carrying candles. That was very solemn. And then the new set of commentators for the NCAA Games were displayed on the big screen. They're Nikko ramos, Dominic Uy, and Aaron Atayde.

The opening looked very traditional especially with the usual scenes during the Spanish Occupation such as the Maria Clara look of the ladies in the ceremony and the guys who were wearing Barong Tagalog. It was a very nice opening Ceremony.

And then the singing of the Philippine National Anthem came. It was sang by the Sto. Domigo Church Choir. After the singing, there was a short play depicting the soon to be 400 years of Letran, the Catholicism that came from Spain and how the Philippines was influenced by the Spaniards.

After the play, Father Tamerlain Lana of Letran made a short opening statement about the significance of the double infinity sign in season 88. He said that 88 is a sign of good fortune, infinity and countless blessings. He also highlighted the importance of athletics as part of the holistic development of the students. And of course, he introduced the theme of the NCAA Season 88, "Conquistar Por Tu Honor Nuevas Glorias." He said that it can be explained this way, "To conquer new heights in our lives, we must change for the better, for your own honor and glory."

As promised, here are some of the highlight videos of the NCAA Season 88 opening ceremony:

    CORRECTIONS!

*Richard Gordon is not JUST a big fun of basketball, he is a Letran alumnus.

*Letran is celebrating 400 years on 2020, not 100 years! :))
