SEA Games 2011 Stampede In Football Finals Match Between Indonesia and Malaysia: A Tragic Event That Ended SEA Games On A Sad Note

The 26th South East Asian Games ended yesterday with a prestigious closing ceremony, but at the same time it was tinted with a grim accident because of the stampede that happened in the football finals match between Malaysia and Indonesia. 2 fans died in the tragic accident.

The crowd was so big as thousands of people flocked into the Bung Karno Stadium just to watch the Finals match but sadly, the venue only has an 80,000 seating capacity. The people around the stadium got too eager to get their tickets at the two ticket booths around the venue that's why some of them tried to break into the gate. The police were not able to to pacify them and the rest of the rowdy crowd that's why a stampede happened. The stampede left 2 unfortunate casualties. The authorities said that the victims were both Indonesians. There were also several people who were left unconscious after the stampede according to them.

At the end of the game, the Malaysians defeated the Indonesians, 5 goals to 4. They've successfully defended their SEA Games Football Title against the host team.
