    Meralco Defeated Ginebra Last Night In PBA Season 37 Philippine Cup: SMC Teams Are Struggling

    The Meralco Bolts sparked the light as they won against the Ginebra Kings with the score of 93-87 for the breathtaking 2nd game of the Friday edition of the PBA 37th Season Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night.

    Bolts was sparkling during the 1st quarter as Sol Mercado and Mark Isip were firing unstoppable 2-point shots marked by their biggest lead of the quarter, 26-16. The Ginebra Kings on the other hand successfully broke Bolts' momentum during the 2nd quarter as they got the lead from them at the end of the first half, 39-41.

    Meralco Bolts were hopeful to get the lead back to them as they attacked the Kings with those continuous hot 2-point shots from Macmac Cardona, the best player of the match, who garnered 25 points and 4 rebounds across his name. He gave the lead to his team.

    Ginebra Kings, led by Villanueva and CaƱaleta, showcased their "Never Say Die" spirit as they tried to stop the Bolts to posses the lead by answering Mark Macapagal and Chris Timberlake's 2 point buckets. Macapagal's successful 3-points stretched the Kings' deficit to 6 points, 88-82, with 1:53 mins. on the game clock. It made the Kings struggle and it rattled them.

    Villanueva and CaƱaleta erased their team's deficit into just 1 point which made them still alive on the game. But Jayjay Helterbrand made a crucial turn-over with 9.8 seconds remaining. Jayjay committed a turnover because of Borboran's successful steal attempt.

    The Kings tried to stop the clock by giving forced fouls resulting to 90-87 deficit. A one ball possesion opportunity for the Kings but they gave a crucial foul to Borboran with 3.3 secs. remaining.

    That foul gave Borboran two bonus free throws. Borboran successfully made his free throws. That assured his team's triumph.

    The SMC Teams are now sticking together in the bottom part of the Team Standings. Ginebra now have 3-3 win-loss record same as Petron while B-Meg now have 3-4 win-loss record.
