Rajko Toroman Is Back To Coach Smart Gilas 2.0: Marcus and Chris Ready To Play For Philippines

The Smart Gilas Team Pilipinas is now sure to continue as Coach Rajko Toroman has already decided to stay with the team. He is now one of the persons who are proposing to form a new breed of Smart Gilas Players. Their team will now be known as "Smart Gilas 2.0." Coach Rajko is ready to try it again with Gilas and he is more than willing to try to once again bring the Philippine Men's Basketball Team to greater grounds. He is just waiting for the go signal of Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP). For the mean time he will just visit his mother country Serbia tomorrow with his wife and then he will be back here in the Philippines on November 15, 2011 to meet up with MVP.

Next year, if we'll be able to win the gold medal in the FIBA Asia Championship behind the leadership of Coach Rajko Toroman, we'll be able to be in the FIBA World Championship 2013 where we will have a chance to compete against the best national basketball teams in the whole world.

And of course it is not enough that we have Coach Rajko as our coach, we also need to get quality players. Right now, Marcus Douthit and Chris Tiu are the only ones who are sure to be part of Smart Gilas 2.0. Marcus is already a naturalized Filipino, and thus, when Gilas needs him, he will be ready to help them. He will just be around playing in China and in Japan as an import. Chris on the other hand will be managing his business and he said that he's willing to play again for the National Team. Let's just hope that there will be more players who will enlist themselves to be part of the Gilas program.

By the way, I was able to read in Facebook that people are clamoring for this kind of Gilas 2.0 line-up below. Well, it looks quite competitive and it looks very athletic. Let's ride the bandwagon and let's push for this kind of line-up.

    C-Douthit 6'11"/ Greggy 7'0", PFs- Fajardo 6'10"/Aguilar 6'10/Williams 6'7", SFs- Aldrech Ramos 6'7"/Ranidel de Ocampo 6'6", SGs- Lassiter 6'3"/ Nico Salva 6"3/Bobby Parks Jr. 6'4", PGs- Paul Lee 6'0"/ Keifer Ravena 5'11

Please include Kerby at the SF/PF position. He is a monster in international competitions..You can also add James at the SG Position. We need a pure shooter in the team to open up our inside... Thanks Coach Rajko.. You're the Man!!!

We need SF who can shoot from 3. De Ocampo is qualified. Williams is a little to little in 4 position. Aguilar must train more in 4 position.

Why Arwind Santos is not included in the national team ? He is a scorer, defender and a rebounder, plus the fact that he has the height.
