Dylan Ababou Barako Bull's New Star in PBA Season 37: He Had A Great First Game Against Ginebra
Another Gilas standout showed to all the PBA fans that he became a Gilas player not only because he's tall, he's also a good player who can compete well against other great players. His name is Dylan Ababou. He was the one who propelled Barako Bull to a win against the most famous PBA Team right now, the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings via 88-75.
The 6'3 Ababou, who started playing organized basketball in Siena College Q.C. under the tutelage of Coach Bang Tumapat and then afterwards he played for the UST Tigers in college under Coach Pido Jarencio, lighted Ginebra up from all points on the court. He shot 6 out 6 in the first half of this game leading to a fantastic scoring output of 15 points. He was the biggest reason why the Barako Bull led at the end of the 1st half against Ginebra, 42 to 38.
In the 3rd quarter, the hottest player of the Barako Bull, Ababou, didn't start, that's why Allein Maliksi took care of the scoring chores, but Coach Junel Baculi was forced to re-insert Ababou again midway in the 3rd quarter because Ginebra was trying to make a run. Ababou once again fired some quick points leading to a 70-54 score. He and Maliksi were the reasons why the Barako Bull got that big lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Willie Miller also reached the 2,000 career assist mark at the end of the 3rd period.
In the 4th quarter, Caguioa tried to carry his team but the Barako Bull proved to be a tough nut to crack because they looked very confident that they will win this game. Even their role players, Artadi and Najorda gained some confidence as they scored 12 points all in all. They were able to draw some confidence from the great performances of their prized rookies Ababou and Maliksi. At the end of the game Ababou's total output was 20 points while Maliksi had 13 points. They are the new one-to-punch of the Barako Bull. Watch out for them!
