UST Tigers Beat Adamson Falcons In UAAP Basketball: The Tigers Are Peaking At The Right Time

The UST Growling Tigers have finally grabbed the 4th and final spot in the upcoming UAAP Season 74 Men's Basketball after they beat the Adamson Falcons yesterday in the Araneta Coliseum. The final score of the game yesterday was 74-58. That 16 point loss to UST is the biggest losing deficit that the Falcons experienced so far in this year's UAAP. That winning margin is a sign that UST is peaking at the right time. The aura of the Tigers during their championship run in the 2006 UAAP Season is now back as they go into the UAAP Season 74 Final 4.

UST is now running like a well oiled machine bannered by their main gunners, Chris Camus, Jeric Teng, Karim Abdul and Jeric Fortuna. Together with their other teammates such as Kim Lo, Carmelo Afuang, Louie Vigil, and Jamil Sheriff, they are playing at their best right now. And that was shown in their game against Adamson.

Despite being down in the game for the majority of the game, the Tigers didn't back down against the Falcons. They showed their championship resiliency against them and in the end they won the game via a convincing fashion. Who would have thought that they will win against the number 2 team in the league via 16 points. Well, anything is possible for them especially when Jeric Teng's shooting and poise are on. He led the Tigers in the second half as they ate Adamson's lead. He only scored 1 point in the first half but in the second half he was able to score 19 big points to shock the Falcons. The other Jeric, Jeric Fortuna also made some crucial three pointers to seal the very crucial win for the Tigers. At the end of the regulation, Jeric Teng was named as the Maasahan Best Player of the Game. All in all he had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

With this big win of UST against Adamson, the Tigers didn't only get a much needed momentum booster coming into the UAAP Final 4, they also get a chance to be in the 2nd spot of the Final 4. They just need to win their next 2 games (Sept. 8 UST vs. FEU and Sept. 11 UST vs. NU) and hope that Adamson loses their own next 2 games (vs. Ateneo and vs. another team). If Adamson loses their next 2 games, UST will be in the second spot and they will enjoy a twice to beat advantage. But that means Ateneo was able to sweep the

UST will face FEU on Thursday. FEU has an 8-4 win-loss record while UST has a 7-5 win-loss record. Now, that game is important for both teams because if UST wins, we'll have a 2-way tie in the 3rd spot and there may be a playoff for the right to get the 3rd spot, but if FEU wins, FEU will be in the 3rd spot and UST will remain in the 4th spot and DLSU will still have a chance to snatch the 4th spot from the Tigers. Thus, the FEU vs. UST game on Thursday is definitely a must see game because it's a crucial one.
