PBA Draft 2011 Recap: Who Are The New Players of Your Favorite PBA Teams for PBA Season 37

This is a recap of the recently concluded PBA Rookie Draft 2011. The PBA Teams seemed to be satisfied with their draft picks. They did their best to get the tools that they need for them to be more competitive in the upcoming PBA Season 37. As what was expected before the PBA Draft, Jayvee Casio was selected as the number 1 draft pick of the Powerade Tigers. Paul Lee on the other hand was the number 2 draft pick of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. The other players of the Smart Gilas Pilipinas dominated the first round of this year's PBA Draft. The last player to be selected in this year's draft was Gerald Lapuz of the Arellano University Chiefs. He was selected by the Petron Blaze Boosters late in the 3rd round.

For the complete list of the successful draft applicants just take a look at the list below. I got it from AKTV.com.

    THIRD ROUND
    1. Mark Cagoco, Shopinas
    2.Filemon Fernandez, Petron Blaze

    (All other teams passed)

    FOURTH ROUND
    1. Gerald Lapuz, Petron Blaze
    (Shopinas passed)

    FIFTH ROUND
    (Petron passed)
    *End of the draft*

That alone when you combine it will total to an hour's worth of airtime. Next, pati awards for Pardo and the listless "word from the comissioner" speech isiningit din. Who would pay interest sa mga ganun? We are here to watch teams draft players and they should stick to that mentality. hindi yung mga kung ano ano dagdag.

I would melt if I am in their shoes on that event. PBA should come up with a room(green room) kung saan nandun yung mga players together with their families. Which leads me to my last request.

PBA should come up with a list of only half the draft applicants na they percieved to be deadshot na magkakaroon ng teams after the event. This will prevent undrafted applicants the humiliation of being seen on TV and by a lot of people on the event.

^ I do respect your opinion, pero i think tama lang naman yung ginawa ng PBA..

First is the analysis by Henson, Webb and Halili.. Not all the fans of PBA knows the draftees.. maybe they know the Gilas Players because they already played at the PBA but how about the likes of paul Lee, Reil Cervantes and Maliksi.. Not all of the fans of PBA has the chance of watching UAAP and D-league.. so the analysis given by these people will help the fans to know a little bit about the future players not by their favorite team but also the PBA..

The next thing is the award to the Governor and the speech of Com. Salud. I know that not all the fans would pay interest to listen to these people but these person are the reason why the PBA exists and why the PBA had a successful season last year. They are not as popular as the PBA players but they are essential part in the PBA.. A little minute for their speech and awarding would be just a little appreciation we can give to them for their hard work they brought to this league..

About giving a room to the draftees.. alam ko nakakahiya na hindi ka makuha sa draft at nakita ka ng mga tao sa TV, but the problem on this part is yan din ba ang iniisip ng maga draftees.. every basketball players has the dream to be part of PBA.. Joining the draft is their first step in fulfilling this dream.. para sa kanila, napakalaking bagay na sabihin nakasali ako sa draft, hindi man ako nakuha sinubukan ko at nakita ako sa TV.. Feeling ko naman, the other draftees, na nafefeel nila hindi sila makukuha pero they still attend the draft, kaya ibigay na natin 'to sa kanila.. Mas nakakahiya on their part or would crushed their spirit if we just said to them before the draft that it's better of you won't come..not all the people had a chance to join the PBA draft at remember, it's up to them if they will still pursue to their dream or would they just let it go.. Look at Chico Lanete, he was not drafted during his time, pero right now, he is more popular compare to the other co-draftees who are been picked during his time.. nasa Player na yan..

By the way, this is just my opinion as well and you're open to give you're own opinion and sentiment about my post..

Thanks for your views brod. I don't mind those analysis made by the 3 commentators. Like I said they desperately tried to extend their analysis so the airtime would be stretched.

Pwedeng pwede pagisahin yun. I say those side shows should be done on opening day. not on an event like this. Ditched those (recognition, speech) and go straight to the show's main event.

All the same salamat sa views bro. God Bless

Kaya nga "Post a comment eh", everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Sana inisip mo muna yun at binasa in it's entirety ang post ko bago ka nag react. I mentioned on my first post na dapat magkaroon ng draft invitees at hindi lahat invited sa event. Ok, the guy who commented enlightened me that my opinion is incorrect and I was very happy to correct that view on my second post.

I've seen guys who post listlessly like you on some forums, I never bothered to be there. Parang nagiging Jologs tuloy mga forum na ganun dahil sa ganyang comments, but that's another story.

Sadly I never played the game anymore because of my work and is very busy with my family. I would love to play pick up games on weekends. I'm not that good but not good enough to be a 'bangko' then. Maybe you should try to go to Quiapo and start a fortune telling business outside the church. Samantalahin mo na talent mo.

I think you are right that the draft went on too long because of the lengthy analysis of the draft players. I think the top ten picks can be given such lengthy analysis, while the 2nd to 3rd should be a little shorter.

The awards part I think should not be included, Hey this is draft night, its for the players. Such awards I think should be given along side the MVP.

As for for those draftee that wasn't pick, YOU ARE RIGHT, nakakahiya na ikaw lang isa ang hindi na pick. Other people are going negative on you, but if its me who's sitting their. OKEY, even if you are not pick, you will stick get the chance to be in a PBA team. BUT we are talking about that event, the draft night, sa daming players na pag pipilian,, ikaw pa hindi na pick, still ma hurt rin pride mo dba? Just an opinion. Positive and Negative remark is always a welcome.
