FEU Tamaraws Beat NU Bulldogs In UAAP Season 74 Basketball To Grab 3rd Spot of UAAP Final 4

The FEU Tamaraws have finally grabbed the 3rd slot of the UAAP Season 74 Final 4 after they beat the Final 4 seeking NU Bulldogs via a double overtime. And after 50 minutes of action, the final score was 84-82 in favor of FEU.

The game was close right from the first quarter up to the 2nd overtime probably because both of the teams really want to improve on their team standings. FEU wants to increase their chances in getting the 3rd slot of the Final 4 while NU on the other hand wants to get the 4th and final slot of the semi-finals.

At the end of the first quarter the score was very close, 16-15. FEU's lead was only 1 point at the end of the first period. In the second quarter, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. started to get his usual numbers. FEU's key defenders such as Peng Exciminiano can't stop Ray Ray Parks. Parks even made back to back three pointers in the last 2 minutes of 2nd quarter to give the lead to NU, 35-31 at the end of the first half. Parks scored 12 points at the end of the first half while FEU's ace player, RR Garcia was struggling to score. In fact, RR didn't even make a single basket in the first 2 quarters. He was scoreless.

In the third quarter, RR Garcia continued to struggle. FEU was giving him his usual shots but he just can't nail them. Meanwhile, Bobby Ray Parks and his teammates kept on pressing the right buttons. Parks was still doing great. He was able to increase his output to 20 points at the end of the 3rd quarter. They were also able to increase their 4-point lead to 8 points, 57-49 at the end of the 3rd period.

In the 4th quarter, Terrence Romeo and Aldrech Ramos took over the scoring chores for the Tamaraws because RR Garcia was struggling. Romeo made back to back 3-pointers and a terrific steal that led to RR's first 2 points. Ramos on the other hand used his Dirk Nowitzki like outside shooting to help his team. He has really improved on his shooting this year. Romeo and Ramo's efforts enabled their team to tie the ball game at 70 all after trailing behind NU by as much as 18 points. They eventually forced an overtime.

The first overtime was not enough to settle this game. And so we proceed to the second overtime (OT). In the second OT Romeo and Ramos were still hot but, thankfully, their leader, RR Garcia started to also wax hot. He tried to drive more instead of just settling for outside shots because he knew that his shooting was off today. And it worked for him. One of his lay-ups went in. His efforts, along with Ramos and Romeo's gave them a more comfortable 4-point lead in the second OT, 83-79, with 1:30 left in the game clock. NU tried to score quick but they failed to do so. They just incurred a turnover that forced them to foul Aldrech Ramos. Ramos made 1 out of his 2 free-throws. With 15 seconds left, NU's Ray Parks tried to set up Joseph Terso for a free 3-pointer but Terso missed it. And so FEU won the game. The final score was 84-82.
