Talk n Text Beats Ginebra: PBA Dubai Games Results for Governors' Cup 2011

July 1, 2011, Dubai- The Talk 'n Text Tropang Texters (TNT) have bounced back from a loss as they beat B-Meg's sister team, the Ginebra Gin King yesterday in Dubai. The final score was 123 to 113 in favor of TNT. This big win for TNT enables them to stay on top of the team standings.

TNT started to pull away from Ginebra when Jason Castro had made an old fashioned 3-point play after he got fouled by John Wilson. TNT jumped into an early 46 to 33 advantage because of that super fast play of Castro in the second quarter.

John Wilson of Ginebra tried to trim down the lead of TNT to 9 points, 37-46 by making some quick points, but those were not enough to stop TNT. After that short explosion of Wilson, TNT was able to stop Ginebra. Ginebra made several turnovers and several forced shots because of the heightened defense of TNT. Because of their great defense, TNT was able to establish a 19 point lead, 37 to 56. Jimmy Alapag also got his rhythm back and he quickly made 2 three pointers to increase TNT's lead to 25, 37 to 42.

The Gin Kings look tired and they seemed to still have jet-lags. But even if they they were tired, they were still able to cut the lead of TNT down to 19 points, 43-62, but the Mighty Mouse, Jimmy Alapag once again made a string of three pointers to increase the output of TNT to 67 points. Mark Caguioa stayed strong as he made a traditional 3-point play to end the 2nd quarter with a 55 to 71 score in favor of TNT.

In the second half, Ginebra's versatile import didn't perform well in this game. He had a hard time against the taller defenders of TNT. But the saddest thing for Ginebra in this game was that they looked more tired than TNT. TNT just had their second game in two nights but they didn't seem to be tired in this game against Ginebra. This game showed TNT's great character. They are getting ready to get their Grand Slam Title.

Mark Caguioa pushed himself to score in the second half. He helped cut the lead of TNT down to 14 points, 61-75. His partner, Curtis Stinson started to be aggressive in the second half. Curtis made his 2 free throws to further cut TNT's lead down to 11 points, 68-79. And then JC "The Rocket" made a beautiful dunk to make the Ginebra fans in the gym shout Gi-nebra2x. Intal managed to cut the lead of TNT down to 9 points, 70-79. Mark Caguioa made a quick 2 pointer to further decrease TNT's lead to 7 points, 72-79 but Jayson Castro and Jimmy Alapag made key shots to increase their lead to 14 points, 85-79. Mark Caguioa and Curtis Stinson answered to make the lead of TNT down to 5 points, 85-90. At the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 90-96 in favor of TNT.

In the pay-off period, the 4th quarter, Yancy De Ocampo made a booming 3 pointer to make the score closer, 95-101, in favor of TNT, but Jimmy Alapag refused to give up their lead. He made a straight away three pointer to make the score 97-104. With the time not on their side, the Gin Kings fouled Kelly Williams several times and Kelly was able to increase TNT's lead to 8 points, 107-97. Stinson tried to chase TNT but he fell short. As a result, TNT won the game and they continue to stay on top on the standings with 4 wins and 1 loss while Ginebra goes down with 2 wins and 2 losses.

This game will be telecast in the Philippines on July 17, 2011, Sunday at exactly 4 p.m. live on Studio 23.
