UST Tigers' new center, the 6'8 Cameroonian Karim Abdul has been allowed by the UAAP Eligibility Committee to play in this year's UAAP Season 74 but they want UST to present the complete documents showing Abduls credentials in order to prove that he fulfilled the 1-year residency period rule of the league. The Tigers were given at least up to the end of the first round to complete Abdul's papers. Coach Pido Jarencio said that they are working on it. Aside from Abdul, UST's new guard, Jamil Sheriff was also given a green light to play in the UAAP.

These 2 new Tigers had their debut game in the 2011 FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup. They led UST to a hot start in the elimination round but they failed to advance in the quarterfinals via a quotient rule that favored La Salle. UST finished the tournament with 3 wins and 4 losses.

UST will also be parading their 2 Juniors MVP Kevin Ferrer from the UST Tiger-cubs and Louie Vigil from the JRU Light Bombers.

The Tigers will face Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and the NU Bulldogs on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at at 1:00 p.m..
