Azkals' Home Game Against Sri Lanka Brought 11 Million Pesos To PFF (Phil. Football Federation)

Rain or Shine, the Kaholeros and the Philippine Azkals' fans are ready to brave the limit just to watch the games of their favorite football team. That was shown last Sunday when despite the heavy rain in the Rizal Memorial Football field, they stayed on their seats and they continued to watch the Azkals beat Sri Lanka 4 nihil.

13,000 fans came roaring at the stands. Their support was big for the Azkals. They were able to boost the moral of the Azkals. The fans extended the message that the Azkals are not alone in their quest to be in the 2014 World Cup.

The hard work of the Philippine Football Federation and the Philippine Sports Commission in renovating the Rizal Football field also paid off as the tickets for the Azkals' game were sold out. The net profit from the game came close to 11 million pesos. The PFF president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said that:

“We spent almost close to P9 million. It’s good to say that from the gate receipts alone we were able to recover the expenses. I think after deducting all the commissions of Ticketworld maybe it was about 11 million. You have seen the crowd, you can see that even if it was raining so hard they were still there watching the game. And they enjoyed it."

How do you like that? 11 million pesos. That's a big amount of money. I hope that the proceeds would go to the proper authorities and would be properly allocated because that amount can definitely make a huge difference in our sports programs.

I love basketball very much pero we can't ignore the Azkals relevance in Phil sports at least kahit hilaw na pilipino ang mga players they still represent our country. I came from iloilo and football was very much real there or have you been to some universities? they have what you call a "football field" in there, still not convince that football isn't real in Phil? Get your facts straight and be fair.
