San Beda Beats Adamson Falcons In FilOil 2011 Premier Cup Semifinals

This is a late game collapse on the part of Adamson. The had a 2 point advantage with 3 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. They could've beaten San Beda but they failed to do so because they still don't have an end game poise. They can't effectively handle San Beda Red Lions' king of rebounds, Ola Adeogun. As a result they lost to San Beda via 82-78. San Beda advances into the 2011 FilOil Finals. They will go against Ateneo or FEU in the Finals.

In a game where San Beda's ace point guard Baser Amer was absent because of flu, the Red Lions had to solely rely on their scorer Garvo Lanete. Garvo Lanete was cold in the first half but in the second half he came out firing. He probably sensed that he should step-up or else they will lose this game against the very determined Adamson Falcons. Lanete sank 2 three pointers in the last 8 minutes of the fourth quarter. He was able to cut the lead of Adamson to 2 points. When his shots started to go in, coach Franky Lim just felt a huge relief because Lanete had a sour shooting clip in the first half. I saw coach Franky smile. Garvo Lanete had 8 crucial points in this game. That's way below his average but they still won the game. They should thank Ola Adeogun. Because of Ola Adeogun's hustle putback plays they were able to get the lead from Adamson. He scored the last 8 straight points for San Beda. They were able to establish a 3 point lead, 75-73 in the last 1 minute 20 seconds of the ball game because of Adeogun. As a result, Adeogun was named as the McDonald's best player of the game. He had 15 points and 12 rebounds, another double-double game for San Beda.

The free throw shooting of Adamson was the main suspect why they lost in this game. They had several missed free throws. They lost at least 6 points from those missed free throws. They could have been up by 7 points. Jan Colina, Adamson's veteran, missed several free throws in this game and he fouled out in this game with 2 minutes remaining in the game. His 16 points and 7 rebounds were put into waste because of his own fault. They won the first 3 quarters but they lost in the most important 4th quarter. That's a no no if you're Adamson.
