The Philippine Azkals lost to the 2nd division Bundesliga FC Ingolstad via 0-4. They were whipped by the 2nd division Bundesliga FC Ingolstadt in one of their tune-up games in Germany. Though there will be an excuse with this lost because the Azkals were not complete in this match. Jerry Lucena, Stephan Schrock, and Ray Jonsson didn't play for the Azkals.

The opponent of the Azkals got their rhythm in the first half, in fact all of their 4 goals came in the first half. The Azkals' on field defenders can't stop the strikers of Ingolstad. That was the story of this game.

The Azkals tried to catch-up in the second half. They were able to tighten up their defense but they were not able to make a goal.

Their Team Captain Aly Borromeo said in his Twitter account that:

“We can only gain from the loss and look to get better! The loss was good for us I say...They were a decent side with a ton of experience."

For me, this lost should not make the Azkals feel down because they lost to an elite German Team. In fact it was said the Ingolstadt website, that they used their so called "first team" against the Azkals.

"Fourteen minutes into the match, midfielder Andreas Buchner teamed up with striker Moritz Hartmann to make Schanzer’s first goal. Hartmann is one of the FC 04 team's top scorers.

Just five minutes later, midfielder Fabian Gerber shot a header to move Ingolstadt, also known as Schanzer, ahead 2-0.

The match had to be stopped for about 10 minutes because of heavy rain. Play resumed when the rain stopped.

At the 31st minute, goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, struggling with the soggy soil, conceded a goal, "steering the ball into his own net" thereby raising the score to 3-0. At the 40th minute, Marvin Matip and Leonard Haas conspired to shoot in the fourth Schanzer goal.

In the second half, coach Mohlmann sent in some of his reserve players, but kept Matip, Gerber, Sascha Kirschstein and Moise Bambara. The Schanzer team made several more attempts to score but Etheridge was able to stop their shots from going in."
