Philippine Women's Volleyball Team Lost to Iran Via 3 Straight Sets: Another Setback For Our Team

Our pride, the Philippine Women's Volleyball team lost again for the second straight time in the 12th Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship (AWCVC). First they had to bow down to Vietnam and now they lost to Iran.

Iran was just too overpowering against our players. Not only that, they are also taller than our players. Aside from that, they also lack a true libero. Imagine, they used Ms. Pau Soriano as their Libero as if they don't know that when she's in the back row Mommy Dulce Pante readily replaces her because she doesn't have a good floor defense. Then again we should also take into consideration that this tournament is all about height. Perhaps Pau Soriano makes the average height of our team higher when she's on the floor. I'm sure we'll see more of her in their next games. That's why she should step up in her game. I also believe that the use of this tournament is just to prepare our team in the South East Asian (SEA) Games on November. Pau Soriano is included in the line-up for the SEA Games. She should do well as a libero because that will be her position in the National Team. With regard to our setter, Tina Salak, I believe she did well in this game but then again, they didn't have quick plays. They need quick plays because they are a shorter team compared to most of their opponents. They should practice more. If they'll be able to adjust quickly, they will have a better chance against Japan tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.. Japan also lost to Vietnam today via 3 straight sets, 25–22,
    25–12 and 25–18.

On our lost to Iran, if you'll look at the set scores, we lost to them via three straight blowout sets. We were badly beaten by Iran. The complete set scores were 25-13, 25-13, and 25-9. If you want to get a better picture on our lost to Iran, here's what a certified volleyball fan had to say. He summed up the whole story of this lost. He said:

I have nothing against the RP team... Eto lang ang mga napansin ko:
    1. Kulang sa combination. Open lahat.
    2. Kulang sa blocking. Makikita mo talaga sa slowmo na ang layo nila sa isa't-isa(the blockers) at off ang timing.
    5. We need good libero and good setter (mabilis at magaling magbasa ng bola)
    6. Palitan na ang coach.
7.Hindi naman mahina ang rp team. Kulang lang ang players. Walang bautista. Walang valdez, santiago, bernal, tabaquero, mercado, alarca, gata, dimac, saet or de leon.
Dapat katune-up game nila lagi ang FEU mvt or UST mvt. Hahay. Kung may pera lang ako.

He really had a nice analysis of this lost. He was able to sum up the whole story in a point by point way. You, what do you think about this lost. You may also share to us your thoughts. Just write them in the comments section. Thank you.

If only the coaching staff watches V-League they should know what the players are capable of doing, putting them on the right positions on where they can have their strengths maximized. Tama ang comment sa taas, let's start w/ coaching staff, then budget. Hingi kaya tayo ng tulong kay Pacquiao?

this article is very biased. we should also look on the coaching staff's side.

for me ndi kasalanan ni pau na ilagay xang libero maybe naguguluhan pa si pau kasi she need to concentrate para maging libero tas middle xa layu ng pinanggalingan nya na trained xa para mag block tas napaka hirap ng trabaho ng libero sana si GATA nalang kasi kaya nyang e fill up almost lahat ng hole sa floor pero lets see kung bakit si pau ang naging libero...

ang problema kasi dito sa pilipinas puro pulitika, kahit di maxadong magaling basta may kakilala sa staff basta na lang pinapasok sa team....i should know kasi athlete din ako dati, may kasamahan akong di naman talaga marunong pero pinapasok...no offense to other players, pero pahinga muna kayo, give chance to others, basang basa na kayo ng kalaban nyo,try the youngsters naman....saka pls naman support sana ng gobyerno...powerhouse tau dati, pero ngayon kulelat na tayo...

all i can say is andyan na ung players cla na ang nandoon dapat alam nila ang posisyon nila. for example pau soriano maaring di sya libero sa ibang laro pero libero sya now then she must act like a libero kc tinanggap nya rin nmn un.. cguro kulng lng cla tlga sa teamwork? gusto ko lng mlaman curious lng ako close ba cla lahat bka kc nagkakanya kanya lng cla sa court .. hmmp?

Walang bautista. Walang valdez, santiago, bernal, tabaquero, mercado, alarca, gata, dimac, saet or de leon." totoo naman, si pau soriano, kapag nasa adamson, pinapalitan nga ng libero kapag nasa likod na dahil walang depensa, pagkatapos ginawa pang libero sa rp team. if i may add, we need younger blood, younger team, yet we sent old ones... no offense meant but they cannot step up with the other asian countries anymore because of agility... i also agree that politics has something to do whit this... ang dami ng bago at magagaling...

as far as i know Sha Torres could have been the libero unfortunately, she got injured during the practice. thus, the sudden decision of making pau soriano as libero.. i was alos wondering, where are the younger ones? maizo, dimaculangan, tabaquero, latigay, gata, valdez, santiago, mercado, alarca?.. sila na ang youth.. sila na ang dapat nagrerepresent sa rp.. we need height and speed... nagsitabaan ng ang mga players natin noon.. kailangan na silang palitan...

RP Team needs a "NATURAL" player. Yung position talaga nila ang dapat nilang pagtuonan.

in short, we need a complete revamp to be a competetive team in the ASEAN...

alarca, mercado, tabaquero(sad to say she's injured), gata (a very reliable and good libero), saet/dimaculangan/ferrer (setter), my god! there's a lot new and young players here in the philippines bkit hindi nla kinuha?.. puro matatanda ang mga nagla2ro, they should give the position sa mga batang players.. palitan na coaching staff!
